The crew at Pablo Morales had VBS going on, along with a small medical/dental clinic. There, about 50 dental patients were seen by Gail (who has now earned her dental license, according to the team). Gail looked at their teeth and made notes about extractions and fillings for a dental team that will be there in about three weeks. Daphne was her assistant and has decided that being a dental assistant is now her favorite job. The small medical team was able to see probably 40 or 50 patients, as well. Bill R was able to use his Green Beret Medic skills to be a practitioner, and Brian was also there as a Nurse Practitioner. It was a very productive clinic. Meanwhile, the VBS crew had songs, crafts, and stories for the children. All of the children were given a school kit that included a beanie baby in it, and they loved the kits dearly!
The team met up at El Ayudante for lunch before departing again. The medical team returned to the National Police to continue the clinics there for the remainder of the afternoon. Several team members went to the nursing home and delivered beanie babies, sang songs, danced, and made rosaries and salvation bracelets. Some of the older girls from HCN joined the team and did a cultural dance at the nursing home, as well.
Also this afternoon, a group worked on construction for the expansion of HCN for the older children. Some women have carried on the nickname of "Rebarb Babes." Some of the men wore themselves out with cement, but it seems as if everyone enjoyed the work!
Tonight, we are preparing for another busy day tomorrow. School kits and sandwiches are being prepared. Len and Tyler are making preparations for spending time with the Nicaraguan National Police. Everyone is still healthy and we are really enjoying our time together. The weather is beautiful (especially after hearing stories of ice storms in West Tennessee)! Some of us are even a little bit sunburned!
Thanks again for the prayers and comments. We read the comments together every night at the end of our reflection time together. We enjoy hearing from home and learning about what we are missing. Please keep them coming! We love and miss you all!
P.S. Don and Terri we are all SO happy to hear of the good news!!!
Greetings from Jackson. I'm really enjoying reading your blog site but I must admit it makes me tired. You guys are so busy! I know you're all having a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping the ice storm predicted passes us by. It's 9:30 pm here and only a light drizzle or as Gary Pickens would say a smidge of rain!
Bill - Erin started her new job today and all is well. She attended classes and was tested on lab information. They were very understanding about the possibility of bad weather and the fact that she might be late tomorrow. Kelly came for a visit on Sunday afternoon. Sometimes just being home for a short period of time can give a needed recharge.
Erin, Kelly and Barbara all say Hello and want me to let you know they are remembering everyone in their prayers.
We love you and are so proud of you!
Peace,
Liba
It's already Tuesday - week is flying by. Be sure to take pictures of Ashley DANCING!! Can't wait to see that!! It's sad to think that your sunburned while we are freezing here. Kids glad to be out of school anyway. Keep up the good work! In our prayers, Jennifer and Family
ReplyDeleteKing and I are missing everyone and wished we were with you. As I look out my office window and see sleet and rain I was wondering if any of you miss us and the nice weather we have here. We will continue to pray for the team and the Nica people. How awsome it is that no matter where we go in life that God is in the Middle of each of our experiences. Thanks Be to God.
ReplyDeleteLove and Kisses to all,
Robin Bradley
Greetings from Brownsville. We lift you all up in our prayers, asking that God will bless your efforts.
ReplyDeleteJanice, I miss you, but I'm sure you are having a good time in ministry. Nolan said to tell you hello and that he wants to be in church with us Sunday. Faye called, wanting to know how you enjoyed the trip, she thought you were gone last week.
Things are going on as usual here. There is a chance of snow tonight. I hope it doesn't. I'm somewhat envious of the weather you are having.
See you Sat.
Love,
Harrell

Hi Mom(Sheila)! Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that we are alright!
